Hi EKSPCL,
yes there is but be careful.
Make sure you use an in line fuse on your supply.
You will also need a speaker - probably any car speaker will be fine for the very short time which you will have it on - less than two minutes.
You will need an aerial and a battery.
Make absolutely sure you run the power lead to the +ve terminal of the battery.
The -ve (earth) terminal of the battery goes to the chassis of the radio.
If it is a valve radio, it will probably take 30s secs or so to "warm up"
After making all connections (and don't let the power lead or chassis get anywhere near the aerial- the power lead will do damage, the chassis will "short out teh signal only))
Just turn on the volume knob, and maybe 1/4 of a turn of volume - if it is a valve or valve/transistor radio, it will take around 30 seconds to operate - if it is a full transistor unit - it will spring to life immediately - you may have to play with the tuning knob to find a station............
please let me know how it goes - make sure you get the power lead fused and only to the battery positive terminal.....
Knew I'd forgotten something - when you have made the power connections - when you turn on the unit, the station name plate backlight should come on immediately and there is also a "pilot" light (the same one) indicator (very small and red) just next to the "diamond"................
These units are invaluable to us EKSPCL - please be very careful, I am hoping the fascia panel overlay is also included?
And just in case you do decide to join our club, we had a limited number of replacement perspex station identification plates made - they are schmick.....
Can you please have a look at the base of your unit and let me know the serial identification letters............... I am being helped in another post at present and have some interest in this...........
Excellent EKSPCL -
we've had a post requesting this info - your pix are priceless..........
bye the way, hang on to that radio - and you have the fascia plate - to bring this unit looking new again, the station name plate, domed inserts for the knobs (look in your box of bits - they are similar in appearance to those on the instrument panel controls - choke, lights. a new "jewel" of which one of our members can supply and a really good polish up with some stuff I am now using - you will want to fit this to enhance the "feel" of your pride......
Your radio is the same model as mine - it uses both valves and transistor - it will take around 30 secs to "warm up" but has a truly "warm" tone.........
