what to do...
hey guys
can anyone tell me where i can get some more of these... better ones...
also i need a new sterring wheel... joe said he could fill the cracks but they would come back sooner or later...
would love one with no cracks... or has anyone fix a whell before & could offer some advise...

Matty,
Try looking for FE/FC ones and cut them done. That's what I did for mine. I think the ignition switch one is different but don't quote me. I only used the light and wiper ones from an old box of FC stuff I had lying around. You could always give rares a ring.

Hi Matty cant help with the bezels but for sterring wheel ideas try pearl craft they do all sorts of mods from extra spokes to reduced diameters

Or of course Matty, you could have the wheel repaired and made super schmick by the cats at Pearlcraft. Their work look fantastic, or at least the ones I've seen sure do.

I have done repairs on my wheel about 5 years ago, from what I remember I used (and was told to by someone) a flexable filler that won't crack when dry, worked OK but it's no show car.mattymartin wrote:hey guys

There was a feature on channel 31 (VIC) last night that was about steering wheel repairs, just caught the end of it so I'm of no help , anyone else see it, I wouldn't mind knowing aswell, Trev .

steering wheel repairs ..
yeah saw that last night in 31 think its repeated on sat night ..
and part 2 will be on next tue night ..
but its looked simple and im sure its the way all the reco ones would be done ..
he cut out the cracks in a v down to metal then used a 2 part metal putty to fill the cuts .. ooh he also drilled and holes into the crack area to act as plugs for the putty to lock into ..
next week he sands and paints it using peral flakes .. and presto a $ 300 buck reco wheel..
looked easy so may give mine a shot soon hell nothing to loose .. lol

Try searching the FE/FC forum for steering wheel repairs, I think someone used some type of resin to repair the cracks.

WORKING TIME 2 TO 5 MINUTES ONCE CURED CAN BE DRILLED, TAPPED . OR THE OTHER ONE I HAVE FOUND TO BE VERY GOOD IS ''QUICK STEEL'' steel reinforced epoxy putty it does a lot more than the name implies also suitable for ceramics and plastics and a hole lot of other jobs both are around $12 from memory
I've used Quick Steel (Thought it was called quick metal though.) to build up a badly coroded alloy water pump outlet before, Absoultly bloody brilliant stuff, a bit fiddly to work with, was a little pasty/runny compared to knead-it but set like stone and we even drilled it and tapped it out to fit the temp sender..
$15 for the quick metal.. compared with $250 plus freight plus 3 week weight for OEM water pump.
Machine is still running same water pump and used daily..

Matty if you go to c31 Melbourne you should be able to see last nights episode of Cruisin' (a show out of Perth) I'm just not sure when they put up the episode from last night. I don't think its straight away. I'd repair it and get ot 2 paked by the beater while he's painting other bits.
After what they showed last night it looks really easy
Grind a v shape along the crack all the way down to the steel ring, using a dremel or the like. Then drill some holes heading perpendicular or close to into the v section. This will form rivets of putty to give the wheel strength at stop cracking. Wipe down with wax and grease remover.Then mix up the two part (missed exactly what he used, but the stuff mentioned above should work fine) filler and work it into the v shaped groove and holes. Leave excess to sand off, prep, prime then paint!!
