Rust repair the bottom of our EK door jams
Hi,
I want to repair the bottom sections of all the door jams. Not sure what they are really called. Somebody has already had a go and done a pretty dodgy job. Pop rivets and screws and heaps of bog.
Does anyone make repair sections for these areas?

Re: Rust repair the bottom of our EK door jams
yuk - thats ugly
I was you I would dig out all the crap back to solid metal and reassess from there. They make inner and outer sills so that's the straight bits sorted , I might be able to help out with donor sections once you know what you need

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Re: Rust repair the bottom of our EK door jams
G’day Macca,
Under the scuff plate is essentially three butt joins between three sheets. The front and rear floor panels overlap half way over the out turned top of the inner sill, which is a square Z profile. The edge of the floor panel is turned up vertically. This results in two perpendicular surfaces, which butt up to the top of the outer sill panel, which also turns up at its mating edge. Usually if this area requires repair then at least the outer sill has to be replaced. It may be that this was done previously, but not very nicely finished off.
Have a look at my EK van thread if you can wade through the waffle. In the mean time I will take a photo or two of where I have got to with it.

Hi Macca;
What Clay said
Along with his van thread have a look at my FB Wagon build I have had to do a lot of that work recently.
You well may find that the bottom of the A pillars are shot and by the looks of one of the photos the bottom of the dog leg looks stuffed.
A great man once told me "get it blasted and then you know where to start" isn't that right Blacky

As promised
Looking at some of my work, I need to revisit some of the floor to outer sill joins.

Re: Rust repair the bottom of our EK door jams
Thanks for the replies guys. I will clean it all up and see what I'm left with.
I think this will be an even bigger job than fixing the front window dog leg.

Re: Rust repair the bottom of our EK door jams
I really don't know much about the history of the car. The guy we bought it from was pretty vague about it. If he was the one that did the repairs I can understand it.
Apparently it came from around the Rockhampton area.
I'm almost finished repairing the drivers side upper A Pillar. Thankfully it was as bad as the passenger side. Already fixed some areas around the back window.
