Gasket came away clean on the oil pump, and I should be able to get it out if necessary anyway. Garnering motivation to pull the grille out, but keep getting distracted dissecting panel vans.

I will be on the phone to Glen's cam whisperer first thing Monday by the look of this posImageImage
My $125 gumtree cam. It was a name cam, whether a good name or not, Dynotec CM205D from memory.

Ah well, it is an opportunity to optimise the tune 8) 8) I would like peak torque around 100kmh in top for the highway. I love the highway and a red six!

Clay,

Cam in the Bin, you just cant use second hand cams and lifters unless they have done zero work and the lifters match the lobes.

Im not sure if your cam had that scenario or not ?

Yes upping the peak RPM to suite the highway would be great and you are right the 6 at peak along the highway is a great sound.

Cam makers in Australia are getting hard to find, camtech comes to mind not sure if they still exist, I think Crow cams is still going ?

Regards Greg

Clive Cams in Melbourne are up and running again thankfully- the business has been taken over not sold off piecemeal 👍

That doesn’t look nice mate once the hardness has gone there is no saving it buddy.

The cam in Franks V6 was a custom grind by Tighe Cams in Brisbane, I just look at there website and the have Holden 6 cams mate, they grind Supercar cams too I believe.

Camtech folded a while ago. Crow bought their gear. Clive is up and running again, great service as always though pricier than they were (getting on par with Crow). Tighe is another option. Waggott is still running, but have not dealt with them other than an enquiry over the phone (they were really helpful).

Cheers,

Was a brand new camshaft and lifters when it went in Greg. I suspect the taper was wrong from go.

Will have a talk to Jonny Marshall at Campbellfield Vic.

Managed to slide this out up the cam tunnelImagethere is 0.300" or so missing off the base of the lifter. I wonder where all that metal has gone? Sump may have to come off If all that is floating around in there. Bugger.....

Clay,

Motor out will be a better option, pull apart clean and inspect.

You have to wait for the new cam anyway.

Wouldn't be nice to re install everything then you drop a bearing.

Greg.
