Re: Gimme 5 years
Found a carby guy with a new leather cup plunger... shaft is ugly so he couldn't really advertise it for sale. When it gets here, I'll decide if I either tidy it up or put the cup on another shaft
Re: Gimme 5 years
Next time I have the top off the 'real' carby I'll apply some vacuum to the power system to check it works.
I didn't grow up with strombergs so I pulled an old carby apart after reading Clay's thread, to see what goes. I focussed on the power system because that's the main bit I wasn't familiar with.
Although it moved freely, no amount of vacuum would lift the piston...so the power jet would have been open all of the time. I unscrewed it and found a little brass cap - stared at it for a bit - but there weren't many options for where it could go to make it vacuum tight and all work again
so, I assume that at some time, it was dropped or someone wanted to see how far they could compress the spring and the rod poked the cap out

Re: Gimme 5 years
another spare part for when I get out there again
so... a 3.89 diff centre weighs 19kg ... if the sender is really thorough with packaging it weighs 25kg. Auspost's max is 22kg and they would look for about $60... logged onto truckit and got a quote for $85 ... so went with sendle for $32 Adelaide to Canberra
6kg of packaging - a bit more time and I reckon he would have done mitred joints around the con note

My local does Reschs draught on tap. Nectar of the Gods, though silver bullets (Pilsener) are not far behind.Brett027 wrote: Thu Dec 23, 2021 5:55 pm 2021 vintage!!!.
