Thanks Clay, Blacky. Just have to check if bucket seats have enough space to put retractor unit on pillar.

Bands and BYO at local hall, including daughters Loose Units. The second photo is more realistic by my recollection. ImageImage

Setting up the fuel lines is proving tricky using the T-union I got due to tube length required to flare the front carb pipe fouling on the tappet cover. Solution was to bend it down. Then the rear needs to be lower again so it all runs parallel to the rocker cover.Image

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

I’m glad they set you straight on there blacky. It is the font of all knowledge after all. Surf club rally today bugger it. Away for work all next week. I want to get it running before it is trailered to the exhaust shop, which leaves next weekend.

Looks like the original throttle linkage will foul the back of the inlet manifold so HZ cable to be adapted.Image

All plumbed up bar PCV, throttle cable oh and the exhaust. Choke setup came out well. Loud doesn't adequately describe the noise on first fire up through open headers. Need to back off idle. Filters are pretty cosy. Slight clearancing of the bottoms.ImageImage

Clay,

Nicely set up. To make the chokes easier to operate, take away the cable-outer clamp on the front carburettor.

No Stephen but thinking of swapping some bigger fronts on to the steeliness. In the meantime it’s nice having tyres that don’t rub.

Hi Clay,

Looking great.

The twins are great.
Got them on the grey.
Curious, will you need to run carby restriction rings with the red?

While most just operate one choke, I used a hacksaw blade to connect the choke for the two carbys.
It has the right spring properties to work push and pull
The little hole on the blade, undo the back carby choke wire screw and feed though the hole and use as normal
Mark up the front one and Drill the second hole on the blade
Trim the end to length and snip the teeth off the blade and file to finish
At The front carb you will need to scallop a little out of the top of the blade to get full range. Makes sense when you get there

From what I gather from the Ute build, choice of paint Colour can be hot rod orange, red motor gm red, wedge wood blue, chassis black, or interior grey.

Blackdog.
Nostalgia isn’t what it used to be.

Thanks for the tip Blackdog. Actually I used some wire from the silly EK bonnet cable I fitted which snapped on the way to the nats. Same as choke wire. I was able to feed it back through the rear carb choke wire hole. Works fine.

It’s a factory correct setup so no mods required to the carbs. I’ve got next weekend to set up the throttle cable before it gets trucked to the next town for the exhaust Tuesday week.

Not that I've ever done such things  , but a short blat to the muffler shop with open headers might convince Raff to trade the Impreza in on something red-powered

Cheers,
