Finally got around to putting the new black rims on and doing a test run. Booked for inspection Wednesday morning.ImageImageImageImage

I thought I should fit the front mudflaps as it is going for inspection. Had to cough up $290 something. Also put hubcaps on to cover the bearing caps and break up all the black with the mud flaps and wheels.Image

It actually has a bit of a rake on it now with the 185/65R14 front and 205/75R14 rears. I was worried about the front 195/75R14s rubbing but t hey should be alright and I'll swap them after rego.Image

Clay how do those tyres go with the speedo?
Will they give an accurate speed?

Ha ha the speedo Drew. I have the original FE to EK EJ? Gear in the crash box but running a 3.08 ratio diff. So it is already 0.79 overdrive. With the 235/65R15 tyres on the rear the Speedo would read 50mph at 100kph. These are a bit taller and it now reads about 48mph at 100kph. Eventu s lot when I get the three speed all synchro box in I will get it reading 60mph at 100kph as it should.

Booked in at Lonsdale in the morning for modification inspection fingers crossed. Minor tweaks to front brake hoses. I don't think they need springs as they don't foul or rub, but we will see. My home made out the side exhaust is the only other concern.

Carbs are ready to pick up so a proper exhaust will be coming soon. Also got 2 speed BA &*#@ wiper conversion from Pete Mallaby to go in. Thanks to drew, Blacky and Brett for heads up. I will be selling off my collection of EK wiper motors to fund it.Image

I thought I’d try and sort the earthing issue with the indicators and get the telltales working correctly. Discovered front left wasn’t working. Swapped the globes around and both were coming on with right indicator switched and nothing with left. Gave the sockets a good clean and seems to have fixed it. Never did get the telltale working but at least all the lights are now working. Phew!

Swapped the standard air filter silencer back on. Ready to go.

Good work Clay
Is your inspection due to the red motor swap or engine ID check? Nice wheels but you can’t go past them jelly beans 👍

Red motor conversion Stephen. Yes I like the jelly beans Sam but don’t think the inspectors would as they rub.

Certainly seems like the Speedo v tyre size v diff ratio = accurate speed on the speedo is a very complex equation to get correct!

The wiper motor kit that you got looks a lot neater than mine.
New motor and some shined new metal on some parts.
Good score

I think you will have you wipers working before me haha

I’m going to have to work out how to wire it up Drew. Switch has a push washer function also.

I bought a speedo corrector box off Close Enough Engineering in Castlemaine - it works a treat  One thing the numptys on the other end of the phone dont tell you is the bloody thing wont just screw into the gearbox as advertised because the subframe rail is in the road - you need to buy a short speedo cable to go from the gearbox to the corrector box and if you are really cashed up a shorter speedo cable to go from the corrector box to the speedo - I skipped the last bit .
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Did you get the clash issue on a grey motor crashie Mr Black? I'm going to need to do a similar converter box for the meth monster project, but have only done part of my homework (I think the dog ate the rest :)).

From what I understand, CRS are selling the Clark Instrument speedo correction boxes (see page 54 onwards in the catalog below):
http://www.clarkbrothers.net/pdf/MC794_CBI_Master3.pdf

Have you got a photo please of the clash issue? Not sure if CRS sent you the straight through 7700/8800 series adaptor, or if the 6600 offset one would have helped:

They also make right-angle adaptors to turn the cable... depending on the answers above, one might be needed:
http://www.clarkbrothers.net/pdf/SC795_Catalog2.pdf

To help the next bloke ordering, the cable for a grey motor crashie is 0.104" square, and the cable-end thread is 7/8-18UNS.

Cheers,
