Thanks.

Lost first and reverse gears on a hill start in Evans Head. I was able to get going by slipping the clutch but doesn't bode well for Sydney driving.

I'm heading for Coffs Harbor on the M1. I don't suppose anyone has a spare crash box I could "borrow"? I only need half of it really (not really).

I’ve got any crashie bits you need, but no full spare box.

Cheers,

Hi Clay, I've got a grey one too if you can make it that far and that's the box you need. Sounds like selector?

Thanks fellas. Made it to Coffs but not sounding good now second is grindy and rumbly. Sydney still 500km away. Will see if I can get a box closer. Got half a dozen back at Willunga.

Checked in to a motel at Park Beach. Time for a long hot shower.

Clay,

I could lend you "Found Object"'s gearbox. Or we could do a lightning gearbox rebuild if you pull it out. I've got clusters and 1st-reverse sliding gears at home. The only major obstacle for you is the uphill bit at the M1 - Pacific Highway southbound exit, if the lights turn red. From there to my place is all downhill.

Drain and refill the gearbox oil as a first measure, then cross your fingers. Top gear never fails, but starting off in top is tricky.

Oh, grindy and rumbly sounds a bit more serious than selectors. Pity Rob and Harv are not a bit closer.

Sounds like a plan Rob. I can always get a tow if I get that close.
