Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Drove around the back roads bedding rings. Brakes vastly improved h asndlung and steering too. 3.08 diff quiet. Not too bad around town with the crashie. Speedo reads 50mph = 100kph, easy as. Took raff for a drive and he read the GPS which hit 130 briefly down the big hill.
Motor sweet as. Adjusted idle and lifters, now quiet. Will play with the timing at done stage. Added coolant.
Front tyres rub m a in my cornering left the right rubs on top of the guard. They at $*#@ tight. Wheel align in the morning.
A low speed rasping sound came and went in drivers rear wheel but after some gravel road may have been a stone.
More driving. Toowoomba here we come.

Will look at getting these rims reset. Currently 1442 front track. +1" rule says max 1410mm so they will have to come in at least 16 and there is room for 22mm per side. Should help.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
I cant be bothered reading back through your 10000000000 posts a day what brakes are you running again ? If its a HR disc setup maybe you could do what Blackdog has just done once you get back from Toowoomba ??? his setup pulled the wheels in pretty much exactly what you are saying you need ???
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Easier to do the rims I reckon but worth considering.
Took ol mate for a run. Last time he was in it was no head lining and old seat.

Clay,
(second attempt. First reply vanished into the electromagnetiferous ether)
I reckon you just need to dial in about -2 deg. of camber, and if that's not enough, cut up a Woolies chopping board for front spring spacers.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Will do on the caster rob. Camber too. Alignment in the morning. I will still need to bring the rims in track for inspection, and I don’t really like the reverse stock setup anyway.

There is a thump on startup from the exhaust hitting the front leaf hanger. I’ll get a proper zorst made up before I go over the pits.
Brakes work pretty good with the vh44. Possibly not as good as I remember with vh40. Another job for later.....
Still better than the stock boosted drums.

Something i never got around to in a wheel alignment - would be interested in what people run as a good set of readings for when I get around to it
Looking Awesome Clay - a couple weeks tootling and you'll be ready to rock and roll.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Did his best to adress the rubbing to some positive effect however I feel the high speed feel was better previously.
-1deg camber either side was most he could get without compromising caster. Even then the caster is pretty well zero.
It only really rubs on low speed 90deg left turns. Happy that a professional has laid the spanners on it now, but I will probably have a play and put some neg caster in for the long drive. Dig the old Hills Hoist gearbox hoist.
