Re: FB Special project
Yep, rookie error, was just using the wrong size tape. Found some thinner stuff and worked a treat, slotted in nicely just as you said

Re: FB Special project
Any advice/hints or tips on how to fit the internal sun visor brackets without really knowing where the holes are? Super sketchy about cutting a hole in the brand new headlining, coz if I stuff it up, well we all know how that turns out
Would anybody have any old photo's or measurements of where the brackets fit??

Can get some photos from my van. I got a new head lining fitted to my ute by a professional trimmer recently and he was insistent on doing the visor swivels as part of the instal.

Re: FB Special project
Leave the visor mounting screws in the body before fitting the headliner.
Tap the tops with a hammer will create the opening in the material to fit the visor.
ie. All the holes are cut after its fitted.

Re: FB Special project
Seems to me the head lining has already been fitted or you wouldn’t need the photos.sgo wrote:Leave the visor mounting screws in the body before fitting the headliner.

You should be able to feel the large hole and use the fitting as a template from there.

Re: FB Special project
Unfortunately the headlining has already been fitted. I was away when my trimmer fitted it for me and I failed to leave him instructions to identify the holes for the rear view mirror and the sun visor brackets. I did make the assumption that he would of known as he has fitted heaps of these in his time. I can't blame him really, he did an amazing job, I have managed to locate the mirror holes no problems but the sun visor brackets I'm struggling with.

Should be able to feel the lap join running vertically in the photo, and navigate from there by the last photo. Agree the mirror holes are relatively easy, as were seatbelt bolt holes. At least the mount provides a reasonable size hiding of the area. The two holes on one side appear to be offset evenly from the lap joint seam where the a pillar top joins the roof inner. Good luck and keep up the lovely work.

Re: FB Special project
Either wash your hands thoroughly or put a glove on and start poking - they are easy enough to find
once you have found the big hole cut an X shape in the headliner then yo ucan fit your finger in the hole and find one of the screw holes. Once you have one you are set.

Re: FB Special project
Well they say the first cut is the deepest, so after locating the bigger hole where the bracket spring assembly fits and with a box cutter blade in hand I made my first incision
From there I was able to find the screw holes and the rest is history.
Definitely a lesson learn't, but thankfully not the hard way, big thanks to all of the above and cheers for the pics @Errol62.
