Scored this little jobby on weekend - looks like its never been on a car - might clean it up and swap with the speco for a tougher look? ImageImageImage

Hoping it seals better than the Speco which leaks a fair bit at the back - this one seams a much heavier casting

Is Permaseal the best brand to go with?

Been a long time since I bought one. They are re-usable which is handy if you are adjusting tappets regularly. And they don't tray split or leak like cork tends to.

put it on a sheet of glass and see how flat it is before you fit it
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Where do you get hold of these rubber rocker cover gaskets for grey motor? Done a bit of a scan and can't find them yet.

Like this?

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Endurotec-R ... .l4275.c10

Cork is fine, if the surfaces are flat and the tightening is gentle.

Got one 20 years ago for a red motor and still using it. I don’t know if they are available for grey.

Ive ordered a permaseal which looks identical to the duratec etc but a few bob cheaper - see how it goes - the cork ones seam to be really porous so they seap slowly - not a big drama but a bit uggly
