Hey thanks fellas.
Had a visit from el prez Rog today picking up chrome from A Class down my way. Much discussiin about matters ute.
Phoned Vintage wiring to clarify my order details. 8 to 10 week turn around but said he could hurry it up a bit as others are not time critical. Hell yes please. As the looms are made to factory length I didn’t bother getting my dash wires lengthened. I’ve had the dash in and out of these cars with factory loom many times and no big deal. Said it was a lot of work and messy to lengthen and I tend to agree.
Fumbled with the radio a bit, and making a tab for the back to fasten to the edge of the cowl seam. Radio has original two pin female speaker wire socket but speaker has no corresponding part. I wonder if you can get these.

Speaker socket in the radio is brown Bakelite, terminals about 1/4" apart, with one hole slightly larger than the other?

I'm thinking it's the same style as the speaker plug and socket for the Air-Chief valve radios for FX, FJ and FE. I have a couple. By the way, there's another style of speaker plug with say 1/2" spacing, but that's more a '60s TV thing.

Thanks for the reply Rob. Yeah nah, it is white plastic and the contacts would be facing outwards. Things have come a long way from FC to FB.

I've never seen one like that before . . . (said the actress to the archbishop)
The alternative is to go to your local Jaycar and buy an inline 3.5 mm mono socket and a 3.5 mm mono plug for the speaker.

Forecast 18C Friday before rain and wind. Maybe get tailgate painted. Haven’t started blocking back the hi fill yet but should be minimal due to new skin. Just need to lay off the edges. The back is too tough to bother and will get the stoneguard effect after a quick key.

Got the shed to 18C @ 50%. Tailgate and tub plates rubbed and touched up. Tailgate bed stone guarded. Mixed up my last 400ml of the ol' 585-0115 Dulon acrylic Wedgewood Blue. Looks like barely enough to do the job so tailgate gets priority. Got a smidge of the Dulon all purpose thinners left to top up and thin the top layers. Gun pressure down to 20psi full fan. As always I have the needle 1.5 turns out.

Waiting between coats and Rafferty arrived home from school with a parcel. Thanks Brett, it finally arrived. I had all but decided it had gone astray. Can fit the cowl now too. Yippee. Perfect mateImageImageImage

Hi Clay,

Did you use gaskets under the wiper pivot blocks ?

I was going to use some of the wurth sealer, stays soft.

Got some gaskets from someone on the fc forum, maco or Pete mallaby. Then couldn’t find them so reusing old ones which are pretty good. Anyway I will take off again for window fitment Greg. But yes mastic type sealant would be just as effective.

You could say lucky Stephen but this painting caper fits well with my weather watching predilection borne from a lifetime surfing. In other words I’m experienced at making the most of the fluctuations. I’ll possibly mask up and put some more coats on the tailgate on the car when it is warm enough.
