Hey Clint,
Looking back at a couple of your engine photos, it appears that there is no vacuum pipe from intake manifold leading to the modulator on the LHR of your transmission. Your auto trans should also have a linkage connected to the accelerator linkage. If it's missing or not correctly adjusted, this would not give you kick down from 3rd to 2nd.

Looks like your engine intake manifold/engine may be off a 1965 HD model(manual). These had a linkage from auto transmission to carby linkage which I can't see in the earlier photos. There should also be a vacuum line fitting near the pivot bracket for the kick down linkage.

If you're attending the meeting tonight I can show you a photo or I can send it to you.

Mr MPH,

I think you will struggle with 14x8, I have 14x7 and have pumped the guards slightly as well as moved the tub across, I still think it will rub although I haven't driven it yet.

My tyre now has around 12.5mm bulge per side , also after researching a 6" rim actually measures 7" wide outer lip to out lip so a 8" would actually come to 9" plus 12mm of tyre each side with a total of 10" or 254mm.
My guards have been pumped but not sure how much.

I'm told it can be done by others who have. The widest I have done without minitubbing is 205 on seven inch rim, two inch lowered. Then it occasionally rubbed on the inside due to body roll. Body roll will get you on the inside and bumps on the outside.

On an 8" rim you could run 225 tyre rather than 245 or 265 (plus one rule). Would improve clearance but then you might wonder why bother with eight inch if you can't fit a decent size tyre.

Yes, agree... I have 205's on 7" x 14".. I don't think I could go any wider front or rear on these Dragways.... they are darned close front and back.
On the front - it's the upper ball joint end... on the rear, it's the outer wheel arch..

If you want - I can post up pix with the wheels in situ without tyres.... and steel rulers showing dimensions....

Yes maybe a 7 is the go I was after more dish than what I have and a wider tyre , I guess a 8 can only push out as much 7 end result same dish only just a inch less in the inner of the guard so not a biggie.

What axle you running Clint? LC Torana an option? Gives you 35mm extra dish either side.
