Project 2.
Re: Project 2.
Yes, the Finley front and cab floor is crumbling rust, but the back is good in the rails and better at the tailgate and tank. The original is pretty much ok from the front until you get to the rear spring mounts and then it just disappears. It's worked out well, as the panels on the original one are bad where the Finley ute's are ok (ish). I think I have enough to get it done.
I'm waiting on a couple of floor parts for the sedan, so I might do some disassembly of Finley this week while I'm waiting. It will be a pleasant change from welding and grinding on Wilma.

Re: Project 2.
There's a guy on the forcebook page that has done a ute with the fc peaks and has painted it to look old with rust patina.
I don't like them just makes it look tampered with.

Re: Project 2.

Re: Project 2.
No that's right they are different,
Try ebay, the fb ek peaks were easy to get a few years ago.

Re: Project 2.
The usual suppliers dont seem to have any stock lately. Ive seen them on gumtree and I think fb delivery sometimes on here had some nos ones.

Re: Project 2.
Just watching Brad Stevens pull down ute motor. He's doing the recon for me and he likes to pull motor down so we both know what needs to be done.

Re: Project 2.
Early days, but pull down revealed a motor in pretty good nick that had not previously been done up. Standard sized everything. Top rings broken in the 2 pistons that we pulled out and suspect all the others too, but no impact on bores. Valves and guides in good nick too. I learnt that the motor was cast on 13th December 1961, head cast two weeks before. Back from Brad for Xmas

Re: Project 2.
maybe you could do a slantnose conversion instead of the fc headlights
Re: Project 2.
Maybe, but first I'd have to know what a slantnose conversion was!

Re: Project 2.
. . . you have the extra bolt securing the front engine plate onto the front main bearing cap (visible in photo next to the timing gears). I thought that was an EJ-only thing.
Out of curiosity, are the top ring grooves damaged in the pistons you pulled out?
