Thanks guys,

Hey John I spent a shit load of time getting gaps to what I thought was an acceptable thing even though the body was in good shape.

Starting on puttying the body and panels this weekend.

Cheers

Hi again,

Just another update. Spent the weekend getting the puttying of some panels done. :) The putty I ended up
using was PPG, Deltron PRIMA, very good to use and a good high build putty.
Was a bit of a pains taking process but, :? in the end very productive. :D

Saturday I puttied the inside of the doors, firewall, dash & door openings.
Very happy with how things are turning out so far.

Sunday, was the roof and the rear quaters & sills.
Very lucky with the roof as it didn't have one single dint.

Should have the rest of the panels done during the week :) as I'm on
all afternoon shifts for the next week. Have YAMBA set in my sights.

BUT JUST WHEN YOU THINK YOU HAVE EVERYTHING SORTED :x the
wife comes home from shopping and says "I saw a really nice colour
that would suit the FB". FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. :x :x :x :x

So then we have to go for a drive so she can show me.
Not saying any more.

Hi all,

Just a couple more pickies. Just about all the panels are puttied up
now except for the two front guards, there next.
During the week I dropped the chrome in to be redone along with
things like bonnet and boot hinges, bonnet lock and other assorted
items for zinc plating. Quoted price $2700 not including any repairs
that may need doing on the bumpers. This has just taken
the rebuild cost up to the 29k mark.
So far 9k over budget with upholstery and painting to go. :?

At the moment the cars back on its side and Ive been finishing off
a couple of things that still needed doing. Then it will be getting coated
with spray on sound deadner and overcoated with black 2 pack.

The end of next week I start on 5 days off so I'm hoping to get
some colour on dash, inside pillars and door openings and maybe the dash.
And yes the colour has changed again since my last post and its something we both agree on finally. :D :D

Hi Malcolm,
I'm really looking forward to seeing this car........... by golly you have done some work..............
Finally, someone who thinks the filler cap should be on the driver's side......

Are you going to top coat the underside before spraying deadener on it........
I have had some major problems with that stuff over un-sealed metal.......
primer I have found to be hygroscopic.............

29K - and what would you pay for a modern compilation of plastic and glass.......... even some of the "shopping cars" are getting to that now.........

so, what's the colour?

frats,
Rosco

Hey Rosco,

With the underside I've sealed all the seams and coated it with
superetch. Then I'm just spraying the stoneguard straight over
it and sealing with the 2 pack black. I did the same process on
my Mustang years ago and have had no problems with it, but I
do understand where your coming from.
So far the colour has been red, orange, maroon, burgandy :? :?
and I'm only about a week away from putting paint on some parts.

The only colour that both the misus and myself agree on and like
is simlar to the car below.
Lets see what the reaction of the members will be on this one.

Cheers

I painted my Monaro devil yellow - like the colour but it sure attracts the bees !
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Paint it the same colour as my car, looks great! The only downsides are that it makes bees sit on it and attracts golf balls while parked at cottesloe beach

No offence to anyone , but I am not fond on the canary yellowish colour.

I find it looks plastic-like ... maybe I get it from rain coats lil kids wear.

Tried the turquoise yet on the missus Mal ?

Or maybe a lighter yellow ?
