as more details have to be included and costs may change.
You have many options to consider and as this would probably be
a once in the lifetime adventure - You really should attempt to attend.

Option 1
Driving - Sydney to Mandurah W.A.
Reverse this to work out your return.
Distance 4000klms
Fuel $1120 = 20 fuel stops
Fuel has been costed at $1.60 a litre
and calculated on 40 litres per 250 klms
This travel itinerary is just a guide and can varied
to suit your needs.

To arrive on the Friday for the Meet and Great you will
have to leave on the previous Sunday
You may find cheaper accommodation and can deduct the cost from the total.
The above times include 1 hr for fuel and lunch stops
Although there are time differences in South and
Western Australia you will in reality be
still driving for 8 hours each day.

Take spares such as Tools, Hoses, Belts, Water, Oil, Extra Fuel (At least 10 litres), Fuses,
Spare Fuel Pump, Globes, Points and anything else you can think of.
Personally I would also take a Gasket kit including a head gasket.
You will no doubt find a mechanic but what are the chances of them having a head gasket
for a grey or red motor?
Have the bushes replaced in your generator/alternator.
Consider replacing your battery.
Advise you insurer you will be attending the Nationals in W.A
Up grade to NRMA Premium Membership
Remember you are driving a 60 year old Holden not a modern vehicle.

You could also hire a car trailer and take your car across that way
and there may be advantages in that?

Transport with Ceva from Sydney to Perth
Cost $1744 Return $1538
The price of air fares varies so much it's had to get a fixed price
So this is mainly a guess. You will need to look for flight specials.
Fly to Perth Airfare $1436 two people return.

Not cheap but a once in a lifetime trip!
Travel by Indian Pacific to Perth with Vehicle
You can only travel Adelaide - Perth - Adelaide on the Motorail
Ticket one way per person $2698 per person.
Vehicle on train is $439 to Perth and $298 Return
