Locking petrol caps

Post by Harv »

Looking to buy two of the NASCO locking petrol caps please.

I need one for Grace's ute, and the other for my EK wagon.

I have one on the wagon, but foolishly managed to drop it. The little swing-aside cover snapped off :( . It attaches by a small alloy lug cast as part of the cover. I don't reckon there is enough meat in the cover to replace the lug with a roll pin (or similar). As it gets moved around a bit, I reckon glue won't work either. I can blutack the little cover on, but it won't last long (not the way the wagon is likely to be driven  ).

Happy to pay for both the caps and postage.

Cheers,
Harv

Those things are tough  I just had to drill the lock out on one to get it off the 2 door - what a mission !!!!
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

I've always wondered how you get one off without the key. Running a hot drillbit in the neck of a fuel tank sounds like an interesting process :(

Do you still have the body of the lock, or is it stuffed?

I've got a good set of lock internals, just the little swing door snapped off. Wonder if I could transplant the good internals into the cover with the swing door?

Harv,

It sounds like there were two different kinds of locking fuel cap for 48-EK Holdens. I'd always thought the original type of locking cap (key goes in radially, rather than axially) was carried all the way through to the EK.
I have two. One's keyed for my black car (no, you're not getting that one), and I got a second at a swap meet to see how you get the lock barrel out. But the alloy's quite badly corroded.
I'll ask at a humpy club meeting . . .

Managed to get hold of a locking cap from D-man (with thanks), which has made Number 1 Daughter even prouder of her ute.

Still looking for another one for my wagon if anyone has one please.

Hi Harv
I have one here in WA I think it has the door but no key and it would probably need a rechrome from memory.
