Pink n Plum Freshen Up
Pink n Plum Freshen Up
Bit more done. Didn't even come close to getting the front done. It took a bit longer than planned to get all the bracing lined up and repaired properly. Progress is progress though.
Passenger side inner sill and outer sill section is pretty rotten. Thankfully the subframe bolt holes did t need touching.
First patch
Pretty much done on the inner
Bracing was rotten so carefully removed it leaving all the factory plating/bracing in for the new section
Some copper weld through primer applied
New section trimmed and massaged into place
Nearly welded up
Done!
All floor bracing sorted

Good stuff. A fair bit of work there. It all takes time and as you say progress is progress.

Well done.
Re: Pink n Plum Freshen Up
Hey mate. I have come over from the FC group to have a nosey. Looks like this one is well underway!
Pink n Plum Freshen Up
Yeah it kinda got out of hand. I had most the mechanicals built and ready to go. One thing lead to another and now it's chopped apart on a rotisserie. Couldn't justify putting all the shiny new bits into something that I knew wasn't going to be 100% but it's real rewarding seeing fresh steel going in

Yeah I ended up doing same. I got 2 cars at once. An ex original Adelaide taxi fc and a mild fe custom on rotisserie. Finished floor, inner and outer sills and front frame has been finished with strengthening.
Re: Pink n Plum Freshen Up
Wow where have the last 8 months gone? Time for an update.
Not a great deal of progress but any progress is good progress.
Since having our boy no amount of money was worth me being away and missing him grow up so a career change occurred. This resulted in less money for project cars. Being home every night is worth it though and I also enjoy the work and the cause of what I am doing way more than anything I have ever done. Throw in our wedding, going back to night school, work and family and the old girl has pretty much had to take a back seat. All deadlines are off and I'm just taking my time with it and enjoying working on it and building it how I want with no stress or pressure.
Anyway, life story over. Since the last update here is where I am at. I need to finish welding in the passenger floor and then it's time to get grinding and moving towards the rear.
The previous tunnel was butchered and made a mess off the firewall so a few extra patch panels were needed but once everything is ground back and back in epoxy it should look pretty mint.
Loading these off my phone via tapatalk so hope they work ok.

Bit more progress on the worlds slowest rebuild. Floors are almost rust free from the fire wall to the rear bever now then on to the body.

Wow...I admire your commitment mate...that's looking good.

A bit more small progress in between work, family life and side hussles.
A pillars are now both repaired.
Passenger side before and afters. This side include a bit of a sill touch up too.
Drivers side before and afters.
Next on the list is the spare wheel well. I've had no luck finding a decent one so I am going to attempt to make one myself in a metal shaping course I am doing on the side.

Re: Pink n Plum Freshen Up
Not much to update. I bought a hr sedan very cheap as a bit of a side hustle to further fund the EK. It's almost ready to hit the market. Maybe another month of just little finishing touches. It has turned out pretty good so far but that's what has been chewing my time lately.
Anyway, being holidays I have been able to sneak a few hours in on the EK between family, food and booze. I finally got the spare wheel well done. There is only a few small patch panels to go on the body now so it's getting closer to being rid of rust..

Re: Pink n Plum Freshen Up
G'day,
Thanks for the pictures of your progress. Always interested to see pictures. You mentioned in an earlier post you were doing a metal shaping course, did you make the spare wheel well?
Regards
Stephen
