Just remember Matty if you bolt up a new Subframe your chassis number will change, unless of course you do some cutting and shutting. Hope you find one.

i have another front for my rusty girl but i noticed that the id plate and the chassis number(sub frame) dont match now so was planning to delete it all together on the replacement sub frame and just leave the id plate on fire wall ..

do u think vic roads will notice ?

thanks for the recommendation mate, i took your advice and went & met up with him, had a chat & the rest is history... he seem like a genuine kind of bloke & yes i git the impression that he's got a soft spot for the ek's, he seem pretty excited about the car...

dr, hey i never thought about that... maybe a bit of cut & past will be in order or is it relatively easy to swap on papers...

Ahh yeah! The number is listed as the cars VIN from memory. Every time a roady is done I believe its the number they to use. Will double check when I get home tonight.

Best option is to cut and shut the existing one into the new one. It may save some serious headaches later on, especially with all the new rebirthing laws. It might help to take lots of pics too, just to proove what you have done. I can't think of anything worse than finishing a car to loose it because some one else may have done something wrong...or they don't believe you.

yeah after checking the reg papers against the sub frame no .. that the one of forms so like wise for me a cut and weld of the stamped section just so save all the hassels as the replacement is a FB ..

i would chek with yor rego authorities, changeing the sub frame and therefore the number shouldn't be to much of a drama, compared to the shitfight you would end up in if somewhere down the track someone discovers that just the section where the number is has been changed, because that's pretty much what you'de do if you were rebirthing

I hear ya ratbox, thats why I suggested the photo's as proof. Either way you are dealing with beaurocratic processes and I'm sure neither way is easy!

mite be worth getting an approved engineer to do a report to cover your ass as in qld you need a mod plate if you change a light bulb wa@kers up here allways carry on with things on my truck its now held together with mod plates

thanks for the subframe info, well guess what the panelbeater said, it may be easier just to cut & weld new bits insted...

but he wont know untill he starts cutting...

anyways here is some pics... of its new home for the next couple of months...

he said he's going to rub it back to bare metal, so we know what lies beneth all that primer & blackpaint...



the panelbeater/painter, joe & i had a good chat about what i want done, for about an hour on monday. after which i felt that we were on exactly the same page...

i felt really good when i left...

i'll be going & seeing his progress on the car every monday... so i'll be updating the forum with more pic's & info weekly... stay tuned!!!

It's going to be a bit of a sad moment, I have rather liked the current rat scheme on the old girl. To miss all that flat black paint and bits of red and grey. She was unique Matty. I bet your wondering right now if you have made the right decission or not.

oldnek, hey mate... nah, i like the rat rod look ... .but its just not practical for a daily driver on the coast and boy did it get hot in that black shell...

finally found my way onto this part of the forum.

Great work Matty, starting to take shape now.
Subframe will come.......... it isn't going to stop here.

From what I have seen of the Grima cars - you will get a great looking vehicle. If they are involved, they have a reputation to maintain - they have produced some schmick looking units..........

Snowcreset white - many of the two tone EK's have a Snowcrest white roof.
It's a strange white, but I love it. I have sent a chip to Stewart - you may wish to have a look at his efforts on that part of the forum.
It is what I call a vintage colour........... not pure white, but seems to have just an inkling of yellow in it.......... it will certainly compliment Tuscany yellow.

Keep it up Matty, we'll be enjoying your company on many, many great runs...................
