Real Dipstick

Post by devlin »

Hey guys another stupid question from me
I recently freshened up my 138 motor gaskets etc while the head was away getting welded by my mate (had a crack and slightly warped )Anyway long story short went to fill back up with oil and no dipstick looked high and low to no avail, was just wanting to know if anyone knows where to buy one or even just the measurements or photo of the original version with full, empty & overall length I'd be much appreciated.it's a 138 manual if that's different than the auto I don't know, any help or advice would help right now if I can't source one I can probably make one at work just need some measurements etc
Thanks
Devlin

G'day Devlin

The length of the dipstick you need depends on whether you have the dipstick tube fitted or not. Early grey motors (FX-EK) had the short dipstick (8.5" long, part number 7410305) with no separate tube (the dipstick slides straight into the block). EJ grey motors had a longer dipstick (1' 1.5", part number 7415679) with a tube (5", part number 7415681).

Dimensions above are the same way you would measure a bolt or screw (i.e. the length under the dipstick head). Both grey motor dipsticks have identical empty/full markings on the end, though I don't have the dimensions to hand.

Easiest way to get one is to place an ad in the Parts Wanted section of the forum.

Cheers,
Harv
