just started working on rust in boot area and notice that my fuel tank has holes in the top of it .. so decided i might fit a new one something like Mal has in the chev ek .. think it might be a &*#@ tank but thought id ask around and see what other have fitted i like the idea of getting the spare out of the way .. D
Hi Dave,
I'm working in the same area myself at present.
Fortunately, I have managed to "save" the floor/tank getting anything other than surface scale - the problem area seems to be at the front - I believe any water on the floor will run to the front?
I believe if I ever replace the tank, it will be in stainless........ if it has to be manufactured, then I would expect to put in a larger capacity.
Don't know if a "well" can be created to hide the spare.
Considering many have larger than standard wheels fitted anyway - may be something to consider if changing from standard..............possibly making a larger spare wheel well whilst at it...............?
lol bill now im not sure the old 186 would handle the nos .. but i know my son would think is was cool ..
Rosco yeah there a guy in QLD that makes em to fit standard hole but 50% increase in capacity .. $700 or there abouts ..
i noticed malcoms chev ek and thought theres an idea .. but will be a while before will need a tank .. so doing a little looking to see what option are out there ..
I can vouch for Marti in Qld , he did my tank in the sedan.
Was a custom job from chassis rail to rail , roughly 120L with baffles, new sender (original type so gauge is correct) , twin pick-ups , 1 return and vent outlet.
holding my ankles - haven't heard it before................
does this suggest the posture you would assume, waiting for some momentum assistance?
frats,
Rosco
ps - still love that body-work, I would love to have the skills to get mine like that - may strip some of my more "ugly" work back and get a little more resolute in standards............
