WARM RIDE HEATER TAP
WARM RIDE HEATER TAP
Hey has any one got a fix on a warm ride heater hot cold valve / tap ???? , just installed the heater assy after extensively checking every thing except the tap , it only leaks on the shut position i,m hoping there might be a seal that might swell up in time as this heater hasnt been used in a very long time .nev
Re: WARM RIDE HEATER TAP
Did you have the core pressure tested before you installed it?
Generally this is the problem, might need resoldering.
This the tap your talking about at the back of the block?
Where is it leaking..plumbers tape?

Have you installed the tap that works with the slider on the dash?
You need both to stop the hot water recirculating through the heater or it will always be hot, not ideal where you live old mate.
Mines just in the off position because I can't find the clip to attach the cable to the slider..bugger.

Wayne,
What clip are you after? Is it to attach an aftermarket solid-steel core bowden cable to the original 2-arm dash slider?

Re: WARM RIDE HEATER TAP
Thanks for all the replies , The switch i mean is the one on the heater unit that is operated by the left of the twin dash slide levers , i dont have a tap on the cyl head as shown Wayne, ,i could by pass the switch & fit one the same under the bonnet & run a cable , i almost didnt worry about installing it at all but the demister is handy from time to time , I did pressure test the core & it was happy days , nev

Kev,
Read the Guide in the link above - it has the overhaul procedure. The seal kit is available from Rare Spares (Kit Valve Ranco Heater EJ EH HD HR, part number RSP335). The overhaul process is not for the faint hearted. If it was mine, I'd get in contact with Utility8 over on the EJ/EH forum. He is an ex-instrument technician, and a wizard at rebuilding the valves.
Wayne,
From memory, as long as you have the two-arm slider you are OK. Trim the bowden cable outer sheath back about 2", and put an S-shaped dogleg into the end of the inner cable with two pairs of pliers. There is a cable clamp to hold the outer sheath as part of the two-arm slider. The inner cable just locates on one of the arms through a small hole - no clip.
Cheers,
Harv

Re: WARM RIDE HEATER TAP
Harv I was lucky enough to pick up a very good natra tap at a reasonable price - does this negate the need for the tap on the heater unit itself for the Warmaride box unit?
It then becomes both the shut off valve and the flow control valve right?
Do you have a model number for the Bowden cable as this looks like the last missing link in my system.

You will find me lost somewhere!
Re: WARM RIDE HEATER TAP
Yes, you can remove the flow control valve, and replace it with a Natra tap. It no longer controls the heat automatically - you open and shut the Natra tap as much as you need to get it as hot as you want.
Best source for a Bowden cable is to knock one off from the kid's pushbike brakes.
