Support bars for what?

Post by Finny »

Just wonder if anyone can confirm where these go. :? :?
The bottom ones came off my parts wagon, and the thin ones (at the top) I took off my wagon.
I'm thinking they are both for the front guards. just different styles.
Maybe the original ones where replaced at some stage with the thinner ones.
Just seems that the top ones are longer ?????? so I thought I'd better check.

You need both, don't you have a workshop manual?
The top ones are the guard supports that bolts to the subframe and the bottom ones bolt from the subframe to the front bumper bar attachment.
Can't take a photo for you my FB is in the SIL's garage.. :)

Thanks Wayne. I'll do some more checking.

Yes I have a workshop manual, however it doesn't show the top ones. :?
The bottom ones are shown on page 1-48 in the manual.
I know were the bottom ones go, as I only removed them a few weeks ago.
I thought I removed the top ones from the same place the lower ones came off my parts car.
However that was 5 years ago, and I wasn't sure. :?
I didn't see the top ones on the parts car, but I'll have another look.

I didn't have any of the bottom ones for the wagon, and couldn't see the top ones on the parts wagon.
So I assumed that maybe one was replaced with the other.
An assumption that I'm glad I checked. :D :D

top one goes from inner guard where one of the cross braces that the bonnet catch bolts on to and down to where the bumper bolts on at the lower front of the guard
the lower one goes from the second bumper bolt across to the same bumper/guard bolt

don't know what they really do I've never re fitted them when I've taken them off
sometimes yor just better off shitting in yor hands and clapping

Went back to my parts car today.
It didn't have the top ones. :? :?

Checked under the EK sedan.
No top ones. just the bottom ones. :? :?

The bottom ones are OK, I know where they go. :D
I'll just have to clean them up and paint them.

Thanks Mick for your description, I know the bonnet bracket, and assume (again) its the one with the single bolt.
But I'm still not exactly sure where it goes. :? :?
If anyone has a picture that would be fantastic.

I know this is an old post, but can anyone take a photo for me - I find myself not remembering where the skinny rods came from as well.

Thanks.
