Bonnet Locking Pins

Post by NoMAD »

Hey folks,

question regarding the legally of Bonnet/Hood Pins.

personally I'm not a huge fan they can look quite ugly but i do have a plan, however the bonnet catch is giving me tons of grief since i packed in a big rad, AC core, thermos that it might be my simple solution, now i know that the old school ones with the rod that protrudes through the bonnet are illegal nowadays, and flush type ones are fine as stated in the VSB14 LH Section

"4.2.2 Bonnet Pins
Bonnet pins that protrude through the bonnet must not be used. Bonnet securing devices that are flush with the contours of the bonnet may be used."

however can i get rid of the original latch mechanism if i use a locking type pin (i.e. Key type or even just push button non locking but still securing as stated above"? i plan to speak to my engineer as well just for clarity but though in this instance one of you guys may know.

Cheers
Nathan
