Any suggestions to stop the exhaust manifold valve from rattling all the time (noticeable especially when I'm slowing to a stop). Would replacing the 'heat riser thermostat bi metal coil' help? (just found some for sale ).
thanks folks

Rattling exhaust manifold valve
Re: Rattling exhaust manifold valve
more than likely - I have never had an operational one but I reckon if the spring in it now is broken , replacing it would certainly help .
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Re: Rattling exhaust manifold valve
I have just recently un seized mine and got it working ,....
there is the thermo spring which( I replaced also) plus another spring / clip which keeps the flap valve just of its seat for that reason

Thanks for that, thought there may have been more than just the thermo spring involved
- does anyone know a part number for clip/ spring for the flap or someone who may have one/reproduces them?
cheers

Re: Rattling exhaust manifold valve
Here is a couple of pics ,... which may help
i dont know any part no for the "anti rattle spring " or had to source one ,... (as i think you will find most are not functional anyway) but dont see why something could'nt be modified or made up to suit.
The workshop manual has a good illustration of the setup and shows the correct angle for the valve which is when the spring slot in the shaft is 38 degree's from the vertical
Anyways hope this helps further.
