VS commodore fuel tank. Where to put the pipes???

Post by nes138 »

Has anyone used a VS commodore fuel tank? The dam thing is so wide there is virtually no room beside it for a heat shield and to send the exhaust passed. Any ideas on this? I checked the ADR and States that I could in theory dump over the diff although the engineer is yet to to apply lateral thinking to this. A commodore requires pipes to the end of the car as there are vents in the sheet metal on the side of the base of the boot where as there is not in mine.
Cheers

Yep, used one in a sedan , it fit very well and managed to get a tailpipe down the passengers side of it . if you look for a build thread called the rust free EK you should be able to see some pics of it .
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Hi Nes
I used a VN/VP fuel tank in my FC Sedan and the engineer over here was happy for the exhaust to go over the diff and through the leaf spring and then straight out the back on the passenger side seems to be enough room between the tank and pipe; the inspector never said anything either when I got it registered.
I have noticed a lot of modern 4x4's etc are doing this standard so should not be a problem.

Thats the go NES.
I originally wanted to go out the drivers side but my fuel lines and brake line were a little too close I thought and only needing one exhaust I went out the passenger side.
