Im not getting carried away with the body.

Just bumping it up and leaving it.

Im only planning on painting the guards and tailgate as they are different colours, then buff the hell out of the rest of it and leave it.
How did you 'bump' the wheel arches and knock the dents out?

Not really.

I just laid on my back and tapped away with the plastic mallet, getting up to check progress often.

I forgot I hadn't posted "before" shots, so here it is in one go.

I cleaned it all up with a wirewheel on a grinder and also one on a drill. I also used an orbital and some 120grit in the engine bay on the flat surfaces, plus scotchbrite in the hard to get at spots.

Wiped it down with thinners and painted it with a brush, and I reckon it came up ok.

Theres still a bit to paint but its easy to keep putting off laying on your back painting above your face.

Im leaving the crap paint on the firewall, Im happy with how it looks.

I took the hinges off and compounded the firewall just to tidy it up a bit, and gave the hinges a good scrub with some warm water, strong detergent and ultrafine steelwool.

The master cylinders are new aftermarket. I lightly wirewheeled all the bolts before they went back in, too.

Well Ive been chipping away when time has allowed.

I was giving the inside floor a final wirewheel when I found a new hole.

So cut, weld and grind time.

After I welded and ground it up, it was time to paint the floor.

And I cleaned up and painted some other bits as well.

Image

Image

Gave the rubbers a clean up too so they didn't look too scabby.

Ive also finished painting under the subframe and the underside of the front half of the floor, and touched up the front end where I welded the engine mounts on.

Now I can finally start putting it back together.

Yippee!

Well, I made the brakelines and fitted them up.

Heres some pics

Flaring kit

Bundy tube

Used the old ones for templates

Image

And used 3 of these to replace the soft lines.
Image

Remember, it has EH front and rear drums now, so these lines may not suit other conversions.

They all fit up nicely better than bought ones.

Then I chucked the motor in, bolted the guards on and chucked the grill in
Image

And sold it to a forum member unfinished today cos he offered me the right money.

He can continue the thread if he chooses to.

Thanks for the interest, fellas, its time to get back into the gasser.
