Re: bolts for ek
You'll need to remove them first then head down to a bolt place and buy them. Unless someone here has a list of all the sizes you'll need.
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
Re: bolts for ek
rare spares sell a bulk lot, I was just woundering if anyone else does.
Re: bolts for ek
G'day Pete,
Just a thought. For my EK wagon, I retained most of the original bolts. They all got a clean up on the bench grinder with a wire wheel fitted to it, then a light coat of sewing machine oil. The wire wheel also gets a hell of a workout cleaning other stuff before paint. I only replaced:
a) those that were not recoverable due to corrosion/wear/butchering,
b) those that the wire wheel grabbed and threw across the shed at the speed of light before entering some other dimension where all lost bolts live,
c) those that were up against paint, and could rust (eg the little screws that hold the exterior roof mouldings on). These I replaced in stainless, often from eBay. Buy from a reputable eBay dealer to make sure you get a decent grade stainless. This worked out cheaper than buying local. A copy of the MasterParts catalogue lists all the sizes, and is handy to work out what to buy.
d) those that were exposed and on display above the car (eg the front guard retaining bolts). I bought these from Rares as sets.
Cheers,
Harv

Re: bolts for ek
Whenever I strip a car I chuck all the bolts in a bucket , oince I get 20kg of bolts in there I take it up to the zinc platers in Welshpool and have them coated. They have a 20kg minimum which cost $95 last time I did it - that way you have genuine bolts that are nice and shiny
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Re: bolts for ek
If you are doing a resto try and reuse the original bolts. As far as I know rares only sell the bolts and washer kits for he front sheet metal.
Harv I like your place where all lost bolts go. Boats have yat same place in the bilge.
