Hi,
has anyone put there battery in the back of a wagon,and if so were and how.
I would like to keep my engine bay as tidy as possible.

When I did up a wagon I had thoughts of boxing off in the rear quarter panel just under the floor level.
I would have hated to have a box taking up space in the rear of the wagon.
I didn't end up doing it but I recon it could work. Trev.

I don"t know if I've seen this done or just dreamed it up myself but what about using a small esky type box painted to suit the style of car, maybe a tool box could work as well.

Option A: behind the rear quarter trims on an angle iron frame. Some engineers will get bent out of shape about venting into the cabin, requiring a (small!) plastic box and a ven tube own through the sill. Might get away with an unselaed gel-cell if the engineer is pragmatic.
Option B: under the rear floor. Lots of room here for a gel-cell, but I don't like the idea of stray fumes from the tank mixing with the spitzandsparken.
Option C: under the rear seat. Can get away with this (just) with a gel-cell. I didn't like the idea of spitzandsparken happening just under the horsehair seat stuffing... felt like a recipe for a home-made bonfire.
Option D: under the dash. Heaps of room, thoough may need to be vented like Option A.
I ended up putting a gel-cell in the standard location, pushed as far forward as possible. Made a heat shield from some tin scrap, then packed the 1/2" gap between the shield and battery with some pink bat offcuts that I scavenged from the ceiling. Works well, despite the 327 headers being pretty close.

fumy you should mention the esky I am using a six pack esky as a template measures the same as the vented battery in my VE commodore boot.
The vent tube just goes through a grommet out under the body, and is mounted directly behind the rear quarter panel. crash into it you would smash the battery (Commodore shes a bit thin)
A location that I,m looking at , thought off cutting into the diff hump half over tank, not ideal.
Hi Bumper wouldn't mind seeing how you install in rear quarter.
Latest thought is it,s going to a bit hard with out robing space in the back , not going to give up just yet.
