I bought this ute off Mick a little while ago and

Its my first EK, though Ive owned a couple of dozen HD-HGs.
The day it arrived.

Cleaned up and painted an EH diff for it that Mick supplied with the car.
Back in.
And new brakes and handbrake cable installed.( yeah...I know...the shoes are on backwards...gotta do it again tomorrow....doh!)
I wirewheeled and painted under the back half while it was apart, too.
All black paint including the diff has so far been semigloss KBS.
Randomly made a new S/S battery tray at work.
That will do for a while.

Im not a fan of the term "rat".
And don't get me started on that overused term "patina"...its just old rooted paint.
Rats are generally shitboxes .
I just want to keep the original paint.
The rest will be clean and tidy and mechanically good.

Finished the front brakes today.
Ive been doing bits and pieces cleaning and painting and getting the drums machined.
It was good to have it all back together.
Filthy filthy brakes!
Cleaning cleaning..
A bit of paint
I ended up rebuilding the original wheel cylinders.
I found some new rubbers in the shed, so that was a bonus.
They weren't pitted, so I gave them a clean and a quick hone with some scotchbrite wrapped round a socket extension in a pistol drill.
And back together.

Nice build
Its great to see someone building a practical ute, not something over detailed that'll never work another day in its life. Keep the pics coming

Ditto what Hewey said. This is the sort of build I was hoping for with my wagon...but given the condition I found it in...it wasn't to be.
