Just quick update, Have just about got everything out of the car and back to a shell. Have tagged the wiring and removed......evidence of re-wire and additional wiring added had me stumped for a little while. The Horn button must not have been working as I traced a button installed on the dash near the radio blank to the horn wiring? a stereo and speakers had been added and also a temperature gauge. From the condition of some of the cables, I will definitely have to use all new wiring (glad my brother in laws and electrician)

Then its time to drop all the running gear out and remove motor and subframe.

I will post some pics of the swiss cheese soon. I look at it and think to myself, what have I got myself in for, but then I say I really want to save her!!!

Had a hat to the guy who will do the final paint, and also a blaster. gee I got some dollars to spend there!!!

Hi Steve

Be very careful with the blasting...If I had my time again I would not blast the roof or the bonnet. I would remove the paint and treat the rust by hand for those sections. I used a reputable blaster and the roof and bonnet came back with some decent ripples...

He said the roof and bigger panels he would do with sodablasting, but the sills and where the panels are stronger he would do with something a bit stronger (I cant remember what it was now) He did say that when he blast's it wont remove bits of rust, because he has had before the stronger he goes it will come back with pits everywhere and I would be filling all over the place.

I am thinking of cutting the major rust out first and then proabably send it for a bit of a blast and prime. His standard is 2 pac primer as well which I was happy to hear.

Just wondering if those door cards are ok as im fixing up a fb sedan with the same red and white coloured door cards but i need the two front ones ,and if you were nt going to use them would you part with them

from memory I think only one was is okay, the other one was a bit busted up. I have put them into storage, but I will have a look on the weekend and let you know. I guess I could part with them, as I wont be using red and white on the interior so it would be ashame to recover something when I could make a new one. Let me check em out.

The car is all down do just shell, subframe, rear diff and front end. Rob helped me out with a front firewall and dash section, which I think is going to save me a heap of time instead of trying to repair what is there, or should I say not there.
I am starting to brace the whole roof and front end so it doesn't move when I cut it, but I was thinking of painting under the new dash section now before I put it in , as I think it will be easier to work on. I want to spray under the dash black, but haven't decided just to use a basic sound deadener or should I paint with POR15. I will be using POR15 on the floors and underbody, and probably anywhere else I can get it into that wont be painted later.

Whats the general thought on what to use?

Hi Steve, you previously asked about the sticker on the back of my wagon, and yours.
Finally found some old photos, similar but probably not the same.
Mine was a whale diving into the water. Strange that they looked so much alike.
Some sort of environmental/peace lifestyle thing .



Wonder if anyone knows anything else about the history. I heard that mine was used as a business vehicle....
