Im ashamed to say i dont really have any allegance to any particular brand or model.
My passion for stuff has no rhyme or reason. Basically if its mechanical and i like it i tend to fall in love with it.
With my new found power posting pics i thought i would share some of my collection.
I thought i would start off with this 73 celica i have had for a couple of years.
I was restoring one for a customer and whilst looking for parts this one turned up.
Its one of those time machine dream car. One lady owner, extremely low miles , fully documented with factory air (mega rare). Air back then added $500 to the cost of the car. Six thousand dollars in todays money.
The car is basically unrestored having only two spots of rust which are now repaired.
I gave it a run yesterday to wisemans ferry with the family.
Ive convinced my wife that i am going to reduce the collection (she reckons i have a problem) so ive told her its on the market. The only thing is the price ive put on it will ensure it doesnt find a buyer.
A mans gotta keep em happy.

Theres not many of those left that havent rusted to bits A mate of mines mum bought one new , the first time I saw it she was dropping my mate off to school and he was standing up inside it with his head and shoulders out through the sunroof They were a lot of car in their day ..............

My dad sold them when they were new in the 1970's. That 1st model Celica was a knockout.

Everytime he parked it to pick us up from school. people would be looking at it. "Your dad has a flash car!"

They were so different to anything Holden f8rd & Chrysler offered. Very European & modern looking

The main one my dad drove was a metaillic dark green with tan vinyl roof 5 speed

i remember the appointments in "as the factory delivered" car were much better then any local made cars.
Radio cassette player for one. retractable seatbelts another, sporty bucket seats etc. Lots of things which were optional extras here.
The plastic interior seemed very new and modern. LOL

They sold like hot cakes. Now I see tham vey rarely. The ones I do see are wrecks, so I suppose you have a real collectors classic there.

We all love Fb & EK's - but don't be ashamed of your love for other cars; My Cusso, 59' Desoto and '54 Plymouth were all good cars.

There a fantastic little car the TA22 Celica, I used to have a ST exactly the same as yours Bootlegger, fitted with a Yamaha Head 2TG engine, running Delorto Carb's used to run consistent 14.1's to 14.2's at Castlereigh.
Sold it in 83 to fella who wrote it off, the engine was sold to my cousins mate who fitted it into the Mustang shape RA Series a few years later.

I think its a fantastic little car but i dont think this one would pull 14 .1 seconds although i reckon it might just beat a stock ek.
I think yellow was pretty popular colour at the time. I remamber seeing heaps of them years ago.

I picked up my Alfa Romeo 2600 today. I managed to keep it in the guys shed I bought it off for almost twelve months so that was OK.
Now I have to find somewhere to put it.

That's quite a rare car and relatively valuable, though the styling's not that attractive. I'll be interested to see how that project goes (I'm partial to Alfas, just got another one last week, a 159 Turbo).

They seem to look better in the flesh than in pics. Either way im planning on using it as a donor car for my maserati project.
Its a shame really because only five hundred rh drive ones were made but its cheaper for me to get the parts off a whole car than trying to buy original maserati stuff.
The funny thing is it all looks interchangable. Im figuring all the different marques were supplied by the same component manufacturers.

The Fiat Group have owned Alfa Romeo since the 80s, Maserati since the early 90s and a controlling interest in Ferrari since 1969. It's a good bet they have used the same component manufacturers.
It's funny you're building an Alfa-Maserati special as Alfa has now been given responsibility for Maserati. Ferrari got handed Maserati from Fiat in the late 90s and they ressurected the marque, making it their luxury brand.
Gotta hand it to the Italians, they make some damn fine driver's cars.
