Siezed exhaust butterfly

Post by mr bean »

HI All
As topic states, does this affect the cars performance at all, should I try to fix or leave or fit a set of extractors. :? :? :?

Cheers Andy

Andy,

is it seized in the hot or cold position?
If its seized in the cold position then I wouldn't just leave it as is. If left like this it could lead to reduced performance, pinging, detonation, burnt valves, etc, as the inlet manifold can get excessively hot especially on long runs and if pulling a load. If you were doing short stop start runs around town it might be ok.

Hi Craig,

That makes a lot of sense, will get the manual out and have a read.

This is one of the reasons I originally fitted extractors to my fb. :whistlinggg:
