So here I an, one of those "Little" jobs which ,after putting off for too long, decide I may as well get it out of the way.
Replace the broken speedo cable.
Piece of piss.
Removing the extension housing end, the gear partially comes out, but still sitting there in the hole.
Clumsy fingers reach in to collect it.
Fumble
Plop!
Oh F@#king a#$e Turd CRAP!!!
in it goes. Right into the little reservoir in the bottom of the (Trimatic) extension housing.
Simple, Quick job?
Yeah right...

Sorry, Richard - don't know the arrangement in a Tri-matic.... but one suggestion might be to use a small magnet securely fitted to the end of a piece of cord/string/wire etc...... that's if there's any metal in the "plopped" bit.... might also find some other metallic treasures in there too....
frats,
Rosco

Went to the hardware asking for a plastic magnet
. No luck. Removed tailshaft, rear mount and housing, bank together. Only the gear was there. The trimatic had a rebuild before I put it in, so I'm glad if that. New speedo cable. All good.
Went for a drive Ross, went by your place but it looked like you were away.
Maybe next time.
