G'day trend setters.
Been out and about with the project FB, getting for the final inspection from the engineer.
Noticed the castor (caster?) is a bit off. In that when the car is sitting normally, the tops of the wheels are further apart tan the bottoms. I've re-built the front crossmember, and in the process replaced the middle bit. There are currently two thickness of shims packing the top of the upper arms. Is this normal?
How many shims are too much?
Are the shims available?
Will a decent front end alignment place have them, and be able to fit them?
I will be getting the alignment done anyway, as I've only aligned the tie rods by eye.
Thank you all.
Castor shims?
Re: Castor shims?
I gather you mean camber ? A good front end aligner will have them , my Chev went in looking like a V8 supercar
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Ah yeah. Camber, that's it thanks Blacky. You've informed me and saved me embarrassment when I do go to the front end place. Interesting how the camber is out like that, but opposite to a v8 supercar at the moment. There seems to be plenty of thread on the bolts which pass through the tops of the shocker towers, at least, so there is room to pack the tops in. I assume the castor is pretty good. I borrowed one of those proper spacer tools when putting the control arms on and very carefully followed procedure. Also the outrigger sat on the correct place just below the subframe naturally, before fitting the rubber mount and bracket.
