need help with fuel pump

Post by jarvo »

Hi all,

I have read through the posts about fuel pumps.

I pulled the carby off and it was so full of crap I am assuming my fuel pump will be too. So I thought rather than trying to reco the pump (sounds like the kits are hard to come by) I thought I might change it to an electric one.

Im running a vacuum pump on a blue 202, is changing to electric something that is pretty straight forward to do? Does anyone know which one i should be looking at?

All advice will be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Jarvo,

If you're heart is set on a new pump, I'd buy a new (repro) mechanical pump before I'd convert to electric. About the same price, with less stuffing around (no need for wiring, cutoff switch etc), and quieter (my Holley Red should have come with earmuffs  ). Some info here if you do go that way:

Having said that, the old pumps are (relatively) hard to kill. Pulling off the glass bowl and (gently!) cleaning the brass screen cures most "full of crap" issues.

Cheers,
Harv.
