Speeaking of getting stuff to work, with the diff why did you take 95mm from one side only?nes138 wrote:Good to see you worked it out mate.
I want to keep my diff centred but I keep getting told to use the two short axles from a commodore diff. With my rim offset it looks like I should be taking 67.5mm from BOTH sides.

it's the easiest and cheapest way to shorten the diff and it works, if you want to shorten both sides i don't think you cut the axles so you'll have to buy two new axles there around 700 eachnes138 wrote:Speeaking of getting stuff to work, with the diff why did you take 95mm from one side only?nes138 wrote:Good to see you worked it out mate.

Won't that mean that the diff will sit off centre and possibly the tailshaft won't be inline with the shaft tunnel? I worry about the tailshaft posing problems being off centre.
I know an axle can be shortened a resplined for about $130 each in Newcastle.

Re: Tigers V6 Conversion
the axles can be done, i shorten a vn diff 60mm each side for a project. the axles where resplined by building the the area with mig welding then cut the splines. the axles are in a 330hp 1000kg race car now for 3 years without a problem. I have removed them for diff centre changes and there is no unusual wear.
cost me $120 each axle, im about to do the same for my FC to keep the original track with 15x7 commodore steel rims im shortening it 50mm each side.

Re: Tigers V6 Conversion
are they cutting them and machine a dowel in it and weld it,your got me wanting to do mine now
Re: Tigers V6 Conversion
Mine arent doweled, run beads of weld along the area to be splined then cut the splines in that area, about the last 3rd if the spline (top edge) is weld the lower section is original axle.
