The Red Report

Post by paulb »

I finally got a mechanics report back yesterday from the red EK from Koo Wee Rup I checked out a couple of weeks ago.

I've asked for some clarification as I am a Web Developer not a mechanic ("mechanical dunce" is probably more realistic). It's very brief too:

--------------------
Make Holden Rego TLC 354
Model EK Odometer 20868

Job Description Vehicle Inspection Report

Diff Oil Leak
Trans Oil Leak
Rear Universal Joint
Rust Left Hand Front Chassis
Left Hand Rear Door - Dose not open from inside
Seat Belt Bolts
Rust Rear Under Boot Line

The above items are Road Worthy requirements

Grease Top Left Hand Upper Control Arm – Outer Pivot
Grease Top Right Hand Lower Control Arm – Outer Pivot
Engine Power Test showed no major faults in engine other than
A major tune up

Vehicle considered being in very good condition for its age.
Would not recommended the vehicle be modified?

--------------------

I am assuming that the last three points only are the ones about which I need to be concerned because the RWC will cover the first list as stated.

Can anyone offer me any pointers/suggestions? My next step is organising the RWC with the owner.

Cheers

Doesn't sound too bad, although the rust in the chassis probably needs clarifying. How much is there? Will they repair it properly for the roadie or just bodge it? I would look into that one a little more. The boot rust is it just the floor? Both rust repairs can be done properly and easily by someone with competent welding skills and basic fabrication skills (I know this first hand  ).

What does he mean by this statment? Its good as it is..... :?

Sounds like a fairly solid car, without looking at it.

Regarding the chasis rust, yes, I would like some more information. Hopefully I can get an explanantion of how each of these problems including this one was repaired for the RWC

I have no idea.. I mentioned possible transmission, brakes and steering modifications when I asked for the inspection... I guess he recommends against these things.

Yeah.. If I do go ahead, maybe I'll cruise through Cranbourne on the way back home and give you a look up close :)

That makes sense, they must be in pretty good working order.

Would be good to have a look. Sounds to me like it could be the right one for ya...
