Main Bearing strengtheners

Post by Trev »

Needing some info about these, To my understanding there are only 2 to go on the middle of the crank, is this rite?
The way I see it is why have them on the ends when there would be no flexing there, only in the middle.

I have some home made ones in mine - made out of 25 x 25 square bar machined flats and hardened washers on the ends , and a grub screw in the middle - dont have any pics unfortunately.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

There are girdles for sale on ebay.
I was talking to rusty the other day he mentioned that he heard you can fit vl commodore cranks , mitsubishi pistons and rods into a grey. Anyone heard of this being done.

I've heard of Mitsubishi rods being used with the L model Vauxhall crank. Check the FX/FJ forum - it's heaps better than this one for hot grey motor / period speed stuff. There are a few guys racing Appendix J greys who get on it regularly.
