I note Heath's reference to a "shorter water pump", though the pump in the photo's looks like the standard Gen111. What pump did you use please mate? With my Gen111 conversion the standard pump fits - but only by millimetres. I'd be happier if i could gain a bit more clearance.

Hey Steve. I bought my motor as a brand new L98 crate motor and I think it is a US import, not an Australian engine. Therefore the water pump you see in the photos is the American water pump. The aussie motors have a shorter water pump that is something like 60 mm shorter. Hope that helps.

if so amazing stuff
i love looking at fabrication
i have a ute here that would be perfect for what is happening to this ute (pretty good on the outside but floors are f#%ked) and that is why i can't bring myself to scrap it because it has great potential, i'm good friends with the guy that built the DOG308 EK ute and have been thinking of replicating it only problem is i want to drive it and can't see that i'de get that type of chassis work through rego in NSW
anyway kool build look forward to more updates

Hey Mick, you never know, till ya have a go, few words of advice mate, I would'nt start a project like this without doing a ton of homework first, secondly involve your engineer from the start, and thirdly mate, we have found its best to not brake the rules, however they will bend a hell of a long way if you do a real quality job that even the engineer appreciates. I noticed for example an earlier post regarding the 4 bar rear, well if you buy them built in some third world country with a report that spells vicroads vickrowds your in the sh#t to start with, we have put 4 bar rears in over 100 chassis's and supplied about 400 four bar kits over the last eight years, all engineered & all legal anywhere in oz.

Seriously tho Heath is doing a superb job of this build and the engineering and workmanship that is going into it will stop the show where ever it goes ....not bad for a guy who is not the sharpest pencil in the pack ..

Mick, I hope you didn't misunderstand me mate, all I was trying to say is planning and a realistic budget no matter how large or small the mods will be, along with good quality parts backed up with as much info & paperwork as possible for the engineer to hang his hat on, is a huge step in getting these sorts of projects on the road, cheers

Fingers, I decided on the colour long ago when I first spotted a Flame Orange VX Monaro. This is an awsome pastel colour that I reckon looks red one minute and then orange the next and really stands out.. I'm not sure what to do underneath though , probably the same, as the chassis and floor will be all smoothed and finished off nicely and a colour coded underbelly will make nice backdrop to the polished suspension components.
