where to for chrome??

Post by fasteddyfc »

Hi all,

I am currently building a fc ute and i am looking at getting all the chrome re-done. I have heard heaps of different stories varying from $1000 to $7000 for the lot.
I live in Albury and there is a electroplater here but i was told it costs $2000 just for the front grille. If i cant get it all done for about $3000 ill probably stick with my existing chrome.

Im hoping some of you guys who have been down this path before me might be able to save me some time and give me some suggestions on where the best places to go are.

Cheers,
Ed

Hey Eddy Ive got a mate that is getting some work done at Albury Electroplating and was saying a swing arm off his bike was 100 squid cheaper than Melb.
I'm giving them a call tommorow to see if they can give me a guestimate on most of the chrome on my FB
I see they also fix, fill, weld and polish. some other mobs wont do that.
Have you seen the quality of their work?
Run what ya brung and hope it's enough

Hi doller,

I dropped in to see them the other day hoping to get a rough guess on all the chrome for my fc and he wouldnt give me a rough price, he told me to bring all my bits and pieces in so they could quote them individually according to how much repair work needed to be done. The guy that does the repair work is on leave until next wk so ill drop back in then.

I took my torana to the wangaratta early holden club day late last yr and spoke to a few blokes that reckon albury has the best electroplater in aus, with prices to match, I have never heard a bad word about them but thought i would ask around and get some other prices.
My ute is being painted by a bloke that owes me a few favours and he is the fussiest guy i know, so i think if the paint is perfect i will spend the extra coin on good chrome..

Cheers to jacko for the link too.
