in reply to baker12 the radiator is an aussie desert cooler he did a great job and it seems to work a treat but summer will test it and he likes cash which suits me just fine, as for rust there was only rust in the front guard none in the sill the guard was cut and shut with a rust free one that was damaged , as for getting 300hp at the wheels from a 253 id like to see that i dont think so maybe at the flywheel ,my engine has a very large cam shaft extensivly ported fuellie heads with 2.02 and 1.60 valves and about 11 to1 comp to acheive these results but who knows also as for the colour i will check over the weekend for the code as that is what the paint was matched to, AS FOR RACING PEOPLE AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS THAT WOULD BE ILLEGAL   thanks again RUSSO

I suppose you could do it - but at what cost ??? It would have to be north of $10k :? Better to get one of these    http://www.bigalstoybox.com/turnkey.htm
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Nice , very nice.

I have a 283 chev that punches 300 rear wheel horse power. Its a real nice engine as well not to grumpy and will rev to 7000rpm. Look im sure 300 from a 253 is doable but its gonna cost and I suggest real hard to keep together.
Just remember fellas if you want to rev it put a CHEV in it :D :D :D :D

just a quick update on the old girl ,went to change diff ratios 2 weeks ago from 4.11 to 3.55 and when i pulled the axles out realised they were both twisted at the splines which i was glad to find now before one broke but was pissed off at the same time as they have only done about 1000 to 1500 street miles anyway i have just upgraded to 31 spline billet axles that are good to 700hp and a brand new 3.55 lsd center all done by geelong diffs they do great work at good prices and are the only aussie maker of billet axles, so im told and there turn around is super quick, the car is much better to cruise around in now im loving it BYE FOR NOW RUSSO0

I had 2.92's in my XD V8, though that was a manual.

I don't get the point of a street car with gears as low as 4.11's, unless you've got a wild cam and a big stall converter, or you're dragging someone off every set of lights. Even with the 2.92's I had , if you got enough power the thing will still haul

thats just it cal i have a large cam shaft and a 3500rpm stall converter any lower than 3.5 and it wont all work correctly i would be constantly driving on the converter burning it out and cooking the auto which i dont want to do as it cost a few grand

Hi Russo

Where did you get your pipes done? they look neat going out the guards compared to others I've seen.

Thanks Rick

they were done by a very good mate of mine who owns rowville exhaust [creative exhaust]phone RICHARD (03) 9764 1177 three of the pipes go through the inner guard and one goes down the back they are very neat and can be removed easy and have a slip joint collector all pipes are roughly the same length hope this helps thanks
