underbody

Post by Lurch »

Guys,
Just a quick question....I have removed the underbody crossmember as they needed replacing and have found the sills where the front end bolts in is rusted pretty badly. Now...i know u can get replacement inner/outer legs for the front end but what about where they bolt to on the actual body? This section on the car itself is pretty bad so am wondering if it is a replaceable part or do i need to try and fabricate something myself? Any help is greatly appreciated thankyou.

Hi Lurch,

I havn't seen anything repro for that area. Depending on extent of rust you will need to fabricate or cut out of a donor car.

Hi Lurch - it's the archillies heel of our model...... whatever you decide to do, don't stop short of making it perfect - the entire front of the car is cantilevered on those four bolts from the subframe - under tension.... the upper one's don't do as much - they are in compression.
