Time for tonights updates
Because of the nature of the original direction the work was headed on the wagon, you will have noticed that I have kept all the prep and refurbishing work to the edges of the underbody and firewall.
Not wanting or needing to go outside these areas.
In a rebuild where the car requires all the mechanicals and sub structure to be removed and repaired, it is the time to attend to places that will be later covered with all manner of pieces either mechanical or panel that later will be a time consuming and expensive exercise to go back to.
The corosion and rust on the underbody components was extensive. All brake and fuel lines were rusted or perished, requiring new parts to be made. The fuel tank had barnicles growing inside it, a similar coating was on the outside of the diff and tailshaft. Major motor and gearbox oil leaks had preserved these parts but presented major cleaning before they could be rebuilt.
Scraping and parts washing, acid dipping and sand blasting hundreds of pieces before replating or painting
I will not be covering evey part that had to be either cleaned repaired and repainted or plated, or in the other approach of finding replacements.
Once the body was returned to its horisontal position and placed on large body stands the firewall was stripped of its old paint and the none original holes that had been cut over the years were welded up and new paint was applied.
The repaired/blasted and painted sub frames were then refitted and the task of assembling all the engine bay and under body began.

Mate you are wrong there, I have a HR hiding under a cover in the carport waiting its turn in the shed. You just don't see old holdens (pre 70) being driven around like you used to, I know of a couple of HD sedans and an EH wagon in town here that come out once a week to go shopping with what looks like the original owners driving them

Ok I confess I had one as well   That was when I used to follow what the fashion of the day was, now at 53 I don't give a rats arse about fashion and drive/build what I want
