My FB Sydney county council ute
Re: My FB Sydney county council ute
Hi Bootlegger,
I worked for Sydney County Council from 1956 to 1992 and drove many vehicles with the logo's shown in your pictures.
The colour of the vehicles was Silver Pine green. The letterinng on the side of the vehicles was yellow with black shadowing.
The Emblem lettering to the best of my recollection was Black with the back colour of the design dark green.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for that. I can visualize the yellow and the black on the writing but that logo in the pic I have posted must have been more colours. There is another logo which is really simple with a family and a house in the back ground with the living better electrically within it.
I don't suppose you have any pics.
Did the cars have any numbers on them also. The 55 international cab over prime mover has.

Its funny how one thing can lead to another. You start with a post about a car and then someone is on this forum who worked all their adult life at the place. Its so cool how these things happen. Makes me even more keen to get this car done.

Gee scotty you really are a slave driver. I worked 12 hrs on saturday and all day today. I spent the day doing front guards for my car and stewarts. Its a bit of an ek/fb production line at my place at the moment.

This week I got all the body and hanging panels ready to hifill. I still have to do a skin on the tailgate. A mate turned up a few days ago with a mint lower tailgate so I snapped that up.
Still need a seat and door trims.

Re: My FB Sydney county council ute
Thanks stewart.
Here are some pics of my fb. If you look closely at the ute you can see the shadows of the signwritting and the logo on the door. I never noticed before that this was the remnants of signwriting.
Whats bizzare is the cab over inter has been parked beside the ute for years. Its a scc truck also and there is still some of the silverpine green on it. You can barely make the signwriting out on this one also. Inside the circle it has a star and a crown on top with sydney county council and city engineers underneath.
I wonder if these two vehicles were parked together At the council depot all those years ago.

Re: My FB Sydney county council ute
Managed to get the tailgate done today. On the weekend I unpicked the old skin. The frame was perfect. While the skin was off I I painted the inners with cold gal and kill rust then repaired the dents in the skin and put it back on.
This morning I went to the sheet metal shop with the tailgate to make some other stuff for it and when I walked in with a it a delivery driver there asked what it was off. After I told him he said he has an FB Ute and sedan in his back yard. They have been there since his brother died in the early 90,s.
Ill go and check them out when Im off to work at Mascot. He doesnt want much for them so heres hoping they arent too bad.
Its amazing how one thing leads to another.

Hi Bootlegger
Sorry I have not responded to your earlier post regarding the emblem colour etc but I have been away and only returned this morning.
the original colour for Sydney County Council vehicles was a dark green and the emblem on the side was done in gold leaf as was the word electricity along the side of the vehicle. Thats how they were in May 1956 when I first joined the organisation. They changed the colour to Silverpine Green as far as I can remember in the very early sixties All Sydney County Council vehicles were numbered with the number being sign written in black above the centre of the front windscreen. The numbers were about 35mm high. Each vehicle carried carried a log book with the corresponding number sign written on the cover. Each driver of a vehicle had to record the details of their trips. Wth pool vehicles as many as ten drivers could use the one vehicle in a day. I will endeavour to find out the correct colours of the emblem on the silverpine green vehicles from my many friends who also worked at there and with luck maybe get some photo's for you.
I will keep in touch.

Hi Bootlegger
I was just looking at the pictures and reading the post regarding the fb ute and the international truck.
I think you will find that the international truck was from the Council of the City of Sydney not the Sydney County Council. Ther description of the emblem with a star in a circle and a crown on top together with the fact that it had City Engineers written on it on it confirms my thoughts.
Sydney County Council Vehicles never had a department name written on them as all vehicles were owned by the Transport Branch and were only on allocation to the various branches of the organisation. TheTransport Branch was responsible for the purchase, servicing and sale of all vehicles.
Hope this info helps.

Forgot to mention I checked out those two cars. They were totally rusted out. At two thousand the pair they are way over priced.
