Glove box mod.....A simple how to
I've done a similar glovebox to Devilrods.
I copied the full size glovebox & made it out of metal.
My CD player is simply screwed into one corner.
I have also fitted an old diamond dot radio
that didn't work, but did light up when powered.
So what I've done is had an electrician from work
wire it up the old radio as an on/off switch for the CD player.
So when i jump in the car, I switch on the old radio,
which turns on the CD which has box speakers
under the front seat, out of sight.
Cheers

My speakers were in the car when I bought it.
They measure 6"wide x 4"high x 5"deep.
They are not actually mounted, just stuffed under the seat.
Its works ok for me, as I dont want blarring loud music when I drive.
I'm going to change them to those aluminium indoor/outdoor box speakers, again stuffed under the seat,
with two additional tweeters mounted side by side under the original dash top speaker grille.
With this set-up, I could fool people into thinking the old diamond dot
still works by adjusting the fader to the dash tweeters only &
selecting an AM station on the CD's tuner.
For the Forbes Nationals trip, I used a MP3 player & transmitter plugged into the cigarlighter for 12hrs of nonstop music.
Cheers

Thommo, nice work. Which gave me another idea, a hybrid of yours and mine. It would invole some extra planning but you could have half glovebox and the cd player mounted like mine....best of both worlds.
May contemplate doing that this summer......
