I'm new to all this posting and stuff so please bear with me My question is simply this....My EK has been blasted and primed now I'm at the decision stage. Do I fit the 138 grey or go all out with a commodore V6 or V8? I also was wondering for those out there that have dropped in the commodore motors what sort of problems have you faced before? i rang V6 conversions and saw the great new front end they have but the problem is 6k for it delivered to my door so If i go this way I wanna be sure its gonna fit properly with little hassle from engineers. Any sharing advice is greatly appreciated thanks guys.

Lurch,I guess you need to see the bigger picture if you are going for the v6 or v8. Apart from the obvious engineering issues, you also have to worry about steering, brakes, boosters, fuel delivery, and electrical (what did I miss).
That said, if money and time are not such a problem, I'd go for the v6 for the driveability and the extra poke of the efi system. The whole original looking modern running car is a winner in my books.

it's pretty much what trev said BUT mainly depends on what YOU want,
for me i do pretty much only highway driving i like to get to the speed limit or a little over quickly and cruise there and overtake whatever gets in my way ASAP so a grey motor is of no use to me
sometimes yor just better off shitting in yor hands and clapping
Thx guys was thinking along the lines of what you said harry186. I like a neat orignal looking car but with the modcons so i guess a sleeper. This v6 converter frontend has the steering mods included so you can run power steering which is a great bonus. Also comes ready for you to put the discs from your donor car (VN to VY) straight on however as mentioned earlier cost factors on 6k i wanna be sure it works so if anyone has used one or is installing one please let me know.

IN MY OPINION if you modify the body you may as well change the engine.It's only my opinion. After all Lurch did ask.
If its a stock standard EK with standard wheels e.t.c then I'd go with the 138.
If its had door handles shaved, big wheels lowered e.t.c then I wouldn't run the grey.

Spend a couple of nights forum surfing - there are a heap of front-end options, some at the $6k level and some a damn sight cheaper. Equally, some front ends have good handling, and some are renkowned for poor turning circle and/or bump steer.
