253 and 308 cranks have the same stroke but different counter weights. I don't think they can be interchanged.

I have it bored out 60thou and will be getting a 350 crank along with cam grind and oversized pistons block deck etc it will end up a 310.
So I have been told today by the builder, yes it will cost a bucket but WTF are you gonna do with your money but spend it.

 Lots of blokes might say "get a 308 " but like you, I as well like the idea of doing something different. It would interesting to see it's characteristics.

I'd guess it would be similar perfoming to the factory 1979/81 267 cube Chev which had a 3.5 inch bore ( smaller bore though than 253 has ) and used the 3.48 inch stroke 350 crank.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

FB MAD wrote:Interestingly, an FC Holden according to the rules as they are and based on the sedan version of the FC, is only permitted to fit a 253 in naturally aspirated form. This is because the weight of the FC falls into the formula for the under 1100 KG weight category, whereas an FB/EK Holden falls into the 1100 KG and above formula category and is permitted to have a much larger capacity increase all because it is a few tens of kilograms heavier car.
when i recently got my ek engineered, my engineer didn't even want to know what the original weight of the car was, just the weight on the day of the inspection. so he told me to take the car out to the local weigh bridge then take it to him. the weighbridge operators didn't check to see what was in the car so for all they know you could "sandbag" the car to get it up to whatever weight needed for the engine size you have fitted. just a thought :ewink:
cheers, luke.
