hi ,
i am currently restoring my ek ute and have decided to take out the vent windows and make my own one piece windows. i have used the original rails from the door handle side and LH Torana rails for the hinge side , the only option for the winder i have found has been , electric window winders from a 2001 holden astra. has anyone done this before and if so how did or would you solve this problem ?
thanks ,

I had a sedan with this modification done years ago , all they had done was use the standard winder mechanism .
It used to stick in the track when it was about halfway up when winding it up - I am going to do this mod myself to my wifes EK shortly and I was going to try fitting a counterweight to the back of the glass to compensate for the extra weight at the front .
The other option would be to shorten up the arm on the winder half the length of the quarter window but then you may run out of travel or need to make the runner on the bottom of the glass longer as it will travel through more of an arc to move the same vertical distance.

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.
