Hi Smooth,
The thing is that no body to date has come forward with a solution to have repro's made, as you are no doubt aware, nos items are like rockin horse shit. I think that if you have a solution to help in producing these items then go for it, after all you said you could do them better and cheaper, not trying to be a smart arse but it's easy to nit pick. repro's have got to be far better than putting some touched up unit on. The Vic FE/FC club are very happy with their boot bagdes, so much so that they have done a second production run after selling out the first run very quickly. The Victorian club are trying to help EK owners so if people want to get on board here's your chance. Bill 8)

I mean't after you get them made and if you had surpus left over after members orders here have been done, you could wack 'em up on evilbay.

I think its great that you guys are getting together and doing something to help fill the parts supply/demand void that has became apparent after years of the old Holden repro companies sitting on their hands and doing nothing but make stickers, turbo badges, fuzzy dice, auto cologne and parts for Commondoors...........

Yep, plenty-O-parts being made for newer old Holdens  .

I'm all in support of whoever does it.

Terry.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

The Victorian FE-FC club had 3 orders totalling 100 boot badges from Rares. We sent a few back from the first order that had small faults but were replaced by Rares. Our second and third orders were fine. 10 went to the WA Club, 25 NSW Club and 65 to the Vic club at a discount price to members. We could have sold more once people saw how good they were; they all wanted them. Because of this the badges are now available from Rares. The quality is very good and l have replaced my NOS badge with a new repro badge from Rares. The NOS bagde has been on my FC since 1998 but was starting to lose it's colour. We are in the process of getting horn buttons and seat surrounds made by Rares. We should be supporting Rares or anybody else who is prepared to make new parts for our cars to help keep them on the road and for people to do them up. The Victorian FB-EK Club have given Rares other items to look at getting made. We have supplied original parts for them to look at. We need to show Rares that we are fairdinkum like the FE-FC Club so we can have our parts made. Tony Galea

Not trying to get into an argument Smooth, but if you are concerned about the cost and the quality of Rares items then why not go ahead and get them made yourself so that we can see what you can offer us. Rares outsource all of their repro parts and do very little in house.

Another thing that puzzles me is that if you can do them yourself why would you even think about buying 2?

As Rares are in business to make money, it is only common sense that they wish to see what interest there is in producing them before outlaying such a large sum of money, after all having the dies made involves a huge outlay. This is the reason that we are trying to gauge peoples interest in this product.

As President of the Victorian club, i will not risk our hard earned money buying a large quantity of badges only to have them sit in our possession and in i would hardly expect Rares to do the same.
That said we are totally committed as a club to ensure a positive outcome so that both Rares and EK entusiasts benifit.

As i said earlier, i don't want to see this issue evolve into a shit fight, just get badges made. Bill 8)

Hi Smooth.
I didn't say there was a shit fight or argument, just that i've see differences of opinion turn into arguments. Lucky we are all striving for the same outcome and that is to help each other with our cars.

All,
this issue has come full circle. I just re read all on this topic and it has been mentioned before that more promotion on the subject needs to take place.
To date i have not heard or seen anything else except this forum looking for potential customers for this product.
Ie. contact respective car clubs for our models , also made it known at nationals that have recently occured , or anywhere else at shows, other media like magazines etc. All possible places for potential customers.

My suggestions
1. Victoria club should table a letter of correspondance to all clubs for our models and also the combined model clubs explaining situation. Attach a second page where you can register your interest in the item and also attach payment for a deposit for part payment or in full what ever you see financially fits better. A receipt could then be issued and this could get things under way.

2. Rares spares needs to promote it on it's website and at there shops.

3. Forum members could be sent a commmon email there are plenty of us now but there are some that may not have viewed this topic and may not visit the site that often.

Suggestion 1. could be offered at points 2 and 3.

Just my opinion, i'd hate to see this die altogether or with rares getting pissed of with us getting our acts together.
The way i see it is that we all have an interest in this so lets make it happen.

Thanks for your comments Ian,
1. I don't know if you are a club member or not but, both QLD and NSW have been made aware of our intentions to approach Rares to have these badges made. We have also thought about taking deposits for badges (just in case we can get them made) but who chases up the payments, people being people ie (must get around to sending my money off), who issues reciepts and sends the money back in case we don't get the required numbers, the tasks go on.

2. Rare's did in fact post on their website seeking expressions of interest and got NO replies so they decided not to go ahead. It was only after ,the Victorian club contacted them that we got them to revisit this topic. They are pricing these items at present.

3. I doubt very much that anyone who takes the time to visit this website is not aware that we are seeking expressions of interest in having these badges made.

4. Don't think for one minute that Rare's are not watching this site and are not fully aware of all of our comments.

5. Unless we ALL get our shit together, these bagdes will definately NOT get made. The FE/FC club had boot badges made by standing together as a strong movement to ensure a positive outcome was achieved. Club member or not.

6. Yes we are also aware that these can be sold on ebay, swap meets etc. but, when it comes to the crunch, the Victorian club has to come up with the funds up front to get things happening.

As noted in your last comment Ian, we all have an interest, even FB owners as parts will be looked at for them too, lets get together and make it happen.
